running thin

Is anyone listening? Can anyone hear me?

Do you ever have days when it seems as though no one is listening to you? You speak clearly, you ask nicely hoping for a glimmer of a notion towards a response.

I had one of those days today so I decided to stop talking altogether, get in bed and blog about it.

Brady was not listening or obeying today. He was acting out by throwing things and screaming at the top of his lungs. By mid afternoon I was spent with that one. My patience was at an all time low. All I wanted to do was sit down for five bleeping minutes but before I knew it, it was time to load up in the car again and head to the school.

I had to pick Micah up from school and take him to speech. Find something to do for thirty measly minutes, pick Micah up from speech and head back to school to scoop up Luke and Maddie. Go home for about an hour and get homework and studying done and load up again to take boys to football. You following me so far?

In the midst of getting the boys ready to go Micah decided that playing football makes him too sweaty and he is quitting. Um excuse me? I don't think I heard you correctly. You have been talking about playing football for months! You can't just quit! And you get sweaty when step out the door so that is just a silly excuse.

Come to find out, at the heart of the matter, there was a much bigger reason Micah didn't want to play football. It is amazing to me how much he loves his daddy and begs for his approval and praise! How we should all strive for such approval and praise from our heavenly Father!

Back to no one listening. After school routine was a bust. I was talking talking talking and my words just fell flat, as if I never spoke them at all. I wanted a do-over. My voice was tired and my will running thin.

And now my husband sits in front of the tv and all I want from him is to ask me how my day was.
