Christmas Cards...or lack thereof

I don't know about you and yours, but we received very few Christmas Cards in our mailbox this year. What does that say about us? What does that say about our family and friends? Did you lose our address? Did our card get lost in the mail or eaten by a vicious mail loving puppy?

Yeah. I didn't think so either.

I love getting Christmas cards! The anticipation and joy of opening them is something I look forward to every Christmas Season. Oh well...

I will tell you that my favorite card this year arrived via email. It was our friends, Ashley and Paul, telling us they are having a baby! Their card/email really was quite clever. Congratulations!

I though the same thing last year Jessica.

I sent about 50 cards overseas to friends in Ireland, Wales, England, the US, Spain. I got less than 20 back.

Life is so busy and for me to take some of my chill out time after the chores are done and the kids are in bed and to then sit down and make, write and post all those cards takes a lot of effort.

I thought that maybe my friends had mislaid our new address so this year I sat down in November and made, wrote and posted another 50 cards and made sure that they were arriving at their destination in the first few days of December. Each card had a sticker on the back of the envelope with our new address on it. I'm still watching the letterbox in the hope that the postman will empty his bag into it...

Am I just old fashioned in loving real cards? Not after reading your blog post it seems. Maybe it is a sign of how busy we all are that these old fashioned traditions require too much energy. More energy than we are prepared to give. I hope not.

I think I will go outside and check the mail box just one more time....

P.S: Maybe next year we should swap addresses and promise to send each other a card. That way I might end up with 21 cards on my mantle piece!

Happy New Year Jessica. I hope it is a happy healthy one for all your family.
